FG to reopen land borders soon — Minister

By Emmanuel Awosika
The Federal Government has hinted at a possible reopening of national borders, which have remained closed since 2019.
Finance Minister, Zainab Ahmed, made this known while addressing State House Correspondents on Wednesday.
She indicated that the committee set up to deliberate the issue had recommended full reopening of the borders.
She added that President Muhammadu Buhari would receive the committee’s report and would make a formal announcement on the issue later.
The President had announced a national border closure in 2019, citing the pressing need to stem illegal importation of drugs, agricultural products and arms from neighbouring West African nations.
