Nigeria’s Okonjo Iweala appointed WTO DG

Nigeria’s Okonjo-Iweala has been officially appointed as the Director General of the World Trade Organisation.
The former Nigerian Minister of Finance was announced as a sole candidate after her counterpart stepped down.
Bashir Ahmad, the Special Assistant on New Media to President Muhammadu Buhari, made the announcement via Twitter.
He wrote:
“Nigeria’s Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala is appointed as the next World Trade Organization (WTO), Director-General. She has just made history as the first woman woman and the first African to lead the WTO.”
