The Governor also hosted Miss Earth 2024 Jessica Lane and Miss Earth Water Bea Millan-Windorski to Nigeria, who are in Lagos for the E1 Championship Fashion Showcase and Experience.

The meeting, shared by Sanwo-Olu on his official X account on Sunday, focused on positioning Lagos as a global hub that supports initiatives for a cleaner and greener future.

According to the Governor, their presence emphasises the state’s role as a vibrant center for culture, creativity, and environmental advocacy.

He said, “It was a pleasure to receive singer and songwriter Wyclef Jean, Miss Earth and Miss Earth-Water on a courtesy visit to Lagos House, Marina.

“Our discussions highlighted Lagos as not only a hub of culture and creativity, but also a welcoming destination that embraces global efforts toward a cleaner, greener future.

“We’re proud to showcase the warmth, energy, and hospitality that make Lagos truly unique.”

The visit aligns with ongoing efforts in Lagos to promote sustainability and international partnerships.

Wyclef Jean, known for his work with the Fugees and solo hits like “Gone Till November,” has long been involved in philanthropy and global causes.

The Miss Earth pageant advocates for environmental protection worldwide.

Recently, Lagos made history as the first African city to host the E1 championship, joining Monaco, London, Jeddah, and Venice on the global calendar.

“For us in Lagos, the E1 Lagos GP, the first to be held in Africa, is a befitting accolade to a sports-loving people and a government that knows the place of sports in human development.

“E1 Lagos GP is more than a race; it is a celebration of Lagos’ dynamism. The Spirit of Lagos. Besides, it is a vivid testimony of our growing influence and energy,” the governor said about the sport.
