Police arrest two for allegedly stealing vehicle in Lagos

Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, RRS, of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested two men, Daniel Bawa and Adamu Ciroma, for allegedly stealing a Toyota Avensis along the Mushin-Oshodi Road.
According to the police, the arrest occurred on September 29, 2025, at about 11:35 p.m., while RRS operatives were on routine patrol in the area.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Adamu Ciroma, a security guard stationed nearby, had earlier assisted the vehicle owner in pushing the car to a spot close to his duty post after it broke down. The owner, whose residence was located two blocks away, reportedly decided to leave the car there overnight.
However, shortly after the owner left, Bawa returned to the location with another suspect, who is currently on the run, and conspired with Ciroma to steal the vehicle.
The suspects allegedly planned to sell the faulty car to a group of butchers. Acting on credible intelligence, RRS operatives swiftly moved to the scene and arrested Bawa and Ciroma, while the third suspect escaped under the guise of looking for a buyer before the team arrived.
The stolen vehicle has since been recovered and returned to its owner. Meanwhile, the arrested suspects are currently undergoing prosecution.
