Lagos: Four children, 11 adults rescued from two-storey building collapse

Fifteen people, including four children and 11 adults, were rescued from a two-storey building that collapsed in the Oyingbo region of Lagos State in the early hours of Monday.

Margaret Adeseye, Controller General of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, confirmed the situation in a statement sent to Daily Sun.

Adeseye stated that about 12:20 a.m., the agency received a distress call concerning a building collapse at 54 Cole Street, Cemetery Bus Stop, beside UBA Bank in Oyingbo.

She said the Sari Iganmu Fire Station of the service arrived at the scene nine minutes later.

According to the CG, the affected building had been marked as distressed before it eventually collapsed but the occupants failed to vacate.

Adeseye said 15 individuals, comprising seven male adults, four female adults and four children, have been rescued with varying degrees of injury and taken to Federal Medical Centre, Ebute Meta and General Hospital, Odan, Lagos Island for medical attention.
