Lagos: 8 arraigned for alleged assault on KAI officials
Eight persons have been brought before a Magistrate’s Court in Bolade, Oshodi, Lagos, over the alleged assault on officials of the Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps, LAGESC, popularly known as Kick Against Indiscipline, KAI.
Those arraigned are Ibiwunmi Oladunjoye (30), Sikiru Oyelami (45), Aja Daniel (29), Sanusi Abayomi (31), Timothy Emmanuel (22), Ajoke Adegoke (24), Ridwan Adeshina (30) and Sulaimon Akinbola (28).
The defendants were accused of attacking KAI officers during a joint enforcement operation at Yakoyo Abula Restaurant, located at 134 Sinari Daranijo Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.
They are facing a five-count charge bordering on conduct likely to breach public peace, conspiracy to commit a felony, unlawfully inflicting grievous harm with dangerous weapons on seven KAI personnel, illegal possession of a cutlass, and attempted unlawful killing of officers while carrying out their lawful duties.
All eight defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges. The court subsequently ordered their remand at a correctional facility pending legal advice from the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions, DPP.
The matter was adjourned to January 28, 2026, for further proceedings.
