Nigeria’s healthcare system needs regulation – Toyin Lawani on alleged Lagos hospital negligence
Celebrity fashion designer Toyin Lawani has called for the regulation of the Nigerian health care system.
She made the call in a post on Instagram on Sunday shortly after accusing a popular Lagos-based private hospital, Euracare, of mismanaging her health.
The founder of Tiannah Empire stated that she had complications from a spine surgery in the hospital due to negligence.
Lawani, who alleged that “most of the doctors there are not even permanent doctors”, also accused the hospital of using “international standards to lure clients”.
While advising Nigerians who can afford medical treatments abroad to run for their dear life, Lawani called on the Nigerian government to regulate its health system to save the lives of the people.
“Nigeria’s health care system needs regulation. Anybody from abroad can have money and come open hospital in Nigeria as a business & do as they wish.
“But seeing @chimamanda_adichie story today triggered me to speak up so that so many people can be saved.
“Euracare is like a buisness center, Most of the doctors there are not even permanent doctors. They come perform surgeries and go. if u have health issues in Nigeria if you have your money, run ooooo”, she said.
Lawani’s outburst came after famous author, Chimamanda Adichie, accused Euracare of negligence over her son’s death.
