Lagos Driver hospitalised after truck–car collision on Eko Bridge
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, has confirmed that a motorist was hospitalised after a road crash on Eko Bridge on Sunday morning, an incident that triggered heavy traffic congestion around the Offin Canal axis.
In a statement posted on its official X account, Lagos State Transport Management Authority, LASTMA, said the accident involved a truck and a white car, which overturned during the collision.
According to the agency, the crash occurred at about 6:00 a.m. on Eko Bridge inward NEPA. One of the drivers sustained injuries and was promptly taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
Further details about the victim’s condition were not immediately disclosed.
LASTMA explained that its officials, alongside police officers from the Ebute Ero Divisional Police Station, were deployed to the scene to manage the situation and restore order.
“An accident involving two vehicles occurred on Eko Bridge inward NEPA, necessitating the deployment of tow trucks.
“The injured driver was swiftly conveyed to the hospital for treatment, while traffic was reduced to a single lane, causing slow movement and a traffic buildup around Offin Canal.”
In a subsequent update, the traffic agency confirmed that the damaged vehicles had been removed from the roadway, adding that normal traffic flow was expected to resume along the affected corridor.
