Power minister Adelabu to pay working visit to Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company
Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, will pay a working visit to the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) as part of ongoing efforts by the Federal Government to strengthen electricity service delivery.
This was made known in a statement signed by the Special Adviser on Strategic communication and Media Relations to the Minister, Bolaji Tunji on Thursday.
The visit is aimed at engaging the management of IBEDC on the urgent need to improve power supply, service efficiency, customer relations, and overall operational performance within Ibadan, Oyo State, as well as across the company’s area of influence, which covers Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Kwara and parts of Niger, Ekiti and Kogi States.
During the meeting, the Minister is expected to review the company’s current service delivery metrics, loss reduction strategies, metering rollout plans, infrastructure upgrades, and response mechanisms to customer complaints. He will also stress the Federal Government’s commitment to ensuring that distribution companies meet their performance obligations under the sector’s reform framework.
Chief Adelabu has consistently emphasized that improved distribution efficiency remains critical to achieving sustainable power sector reform. He is expected to reiterate the Ministry’s readiness to support IBEDC and other distribution companies while also demanding accountability, transparency, and measurable improvement in service delivery to Nigerians.
The working visit forms part of a broader engagement with electricity distribution companies to ensure that citizens and businesses enjoy more stable, reliable, and affordable power supply.
