Lagos Assembly demands stronger community security, prosecution of vandals

The Lagos State House of Assembly has called for stronger community-based security measures and tougher prosecution of individuals involved in the vandalism of public infrastructure across the state.

The lawmakers made the call while expressing concern over the increasing destruction and theft of government infrastructure, which they said was negatively affecting development and putting residents at risk.

The Assembly urged relevant security agencies and communities to strengthen collaboration to prevent vandalism and ensure that those arrested for damaging public facilities are properly prosecuted.

The lawmakers also stressed the need for residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities in their communities to the appropriate authorities.

According to the Assembly, protecting public infrastructure should be a collective responsibility involving government agencies, security personnel and residents.

The lawmakers said stronger enforcement and community participation would help curb the activities of vandals and protect government investments across Lagos.
