Peter Obi watches Ikorodu City defeat Rangers in Lagos

Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Peter Obi, on Sunday watched the Nigeria Premier Football League match between Ikorodu City and Enugu Rangers at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos.

Obi was seated in the stands as Ikorodu City defeated the defending champions 2-0 in the Matchday Six fixture of the 2026/27 NPFL season.

Ikorodu City took the lead in the eighth minute through Aderemi Adeoye before Ikechukwu Junior doubled the advantage in the 63rd minute.

Obi was also seen interacting with people at the stadium during the match, while some fans approached him for photographs during the half-time break.

Photographs from the match also showed the former Anambra State governor with members of the Enugu Rangers team.

The result gave Ikorodu City a 2-0 victory over the reigning champions in the league encounter.

Obi’s appearance at the match comes as political activities continue ahead of the 2027 general election.
