PRP Accuses Tinubu of Failing to Tackle Insecurity, Predicts Defeat in 2027
The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has criticised President Bola Tinubu’s administration over persistent killings and abductions in parts of the country, urging the Federal Government to take urgent action to protect lives and property.
The party’s National Chairman, Dr Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, made the call in a statement, expressing concern over attacks by armed groups and other criminal elements in several states.
The PRP listed Kwara, Niger, Benue, Kebbi, Zamfara, Sokoto, Kaduna, Borno, Plateau and Yobe among states affected by insecurity.
“The scale of the killings and abductions of helpless citizens and the rising impunity of their tormentors suggests that Nigerians live in a lawless country,” the party said.
It accused the All Progressives Congress-led administration of relying on statements and promises rather than taking sufficient action to address the security crisis.
The party also raised concerns about the pressure on military personnel and civilian volunteers involved in efforts to tackle the attacks, saying the violence had affected livelihoods and the economic well-being of millions of Nigerians.
The PRP further accused the government of directing substantial public resources towards securing political support while many citizens continued to face security threats.
Baba-Ahmed urged Nigerians to speak out against the killings and demand accountability from the government, insisting that Tinubu had a responsibility to protect citizens before the end of his tenure.
“President Tinubu still has four months to go before his defeat. He has a responsibility to live up to his oath to protect the lives and welfare of Nigerians,” he said.
The party called on the president to take decisive steps to stop the killings and abductions rather than allow the security crisis to persist until the 2027 general election.
