Former Osun State Governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, has withdrawn his endorsement of President Bola Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election, declaring that the support has expired.

Oyinlola made this known during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today when asked whether he still stood by the endorsement he gave Tinubu in July 2025.

“It has expired,” he replied.

The former governor, who is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), explained that the endorsement was a political decision influenced by the situation in Osun State at the time.

He said PDP stakeholders in the state backed Tinubu in the hope that the President would intervene in the dispute over local government administration and the alleged disappearance of council funds.

According to him, the decision was intended to help resolve the challenges affecting local government administration in the state.

Oyinlola, however, said the endorsement did not produce the expected result.

“We did not achieve anything, and I exited it almost immediately,” he said.

The former governor has since declared support for Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, amid reports that Makinde is considering a presidential bid in the 2027 general election.
