AFCON 2025: CAF names Somali official for Nigeria vs Algeria clash

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed Somali referee Omar Artan for the quarter-final fixture between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and Algeria.

Artan is one of the referees selected for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

He is widely regarded as one of the most respected referees in Africa.

The Super Eagles and Algeria will clash at the Stade de Marrakech on Saturday.

It will be a repeat of the 2019 AFCON semi-final between the teams, which Algeria won 2-1.

The game will kick off at 5 pm Nigerian time.
