APC National Convention: Heavy congestion hits Lagos Airport over Abuja trip

The domestic terminal of Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja witnessed significant disruptions on Friday as members of the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) travelled to Abuja for the party’s National Convention.

The two-day convention, which began on Friday, March 27, and continues on Saturday, March 28, 2026, is being held at Eagles Square, Abuja.

It is expected to attract over 8,000 delegates, including President Bola Tinubu and several members of his cabinet.APC members from Lagos started arriving at the airport as early as 6:00 a.m. in coordinated Ankara outfits, creating a heavy influx of passengers and noticeable operational strain at the terminal.

Prominent figures among the group include former Senate Minority Whip and Governance Advisory Council (GAC) member, Senator Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon, former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, elder statesman and GAC member, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, as well as several other notable party leaders.
