Badagry West: Lagos Lawmaker lauds Sanwo-Olu’s zeal for development

Hon. Bonu Solomon Saanu PhD, representing Badagry Constituency 01 at the Lagos State House of Assembly has commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s untiring commitment, to ensure even development across the length and breath of state as he commissions Badagry West Electrification Project.

Governor Sanwo-Olu who was ably represented by his Deputy Dr. Obafemi Hamzat was however, reminded by the lawmaker of another key project begging for attention- Gbaji-Apa-Owode Road.

Bonu while appreciating the long-awaited electrification of the three HC Tower Crossings, the newly rehabilitated 33KV distribution lines along the Gaji-Seme, Owode-Apa corridors, and the connection of fifty-one transformer substations commissioned on Wednesday at the Kweme Descendants union Badagry West, expressed profound gratitude for the restoration of the social amenity of which the community have long being deprived.

“On behalf of the good people of Badagry, especially Badagry West, we say a big thank you to the Lagos state Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and is Deputy Babafemi Hamzat for commissioning the Electrification Project in our community.

“Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat. I am grateful for your visit to my family house yesterday, it means a lot to me. Your presence has boosted my aspirations.

“To the people of Badagry West, thanks for your support in making this project happen. Let’s keep an eye on it.

“Next in line for us in Badagry is the Gbaji-Apa-Owode Road. I promise to use my legislative influence to push this through, with God’s grace by my side. Many thanks.”

Earlier in his speech the Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat cited the positive impacts of the project being commissioned for the people.

“These represent a deliberate intervention by the state government to address the longstanding electricity challenges in the axis.

“This intervention aligns strongly with our THEMES+ Development Agenda, particularly our commitment to expanding energy access and building resilient infrastructure that supports economic growth across every part of Lagos State, and with the recent inauguration of the Board of the Lagos State Electricity Regulatory Commission, Lagos is positioning itself to regulate and expand electricity supply more effectively, ensuring that infrastructure investments such as this deliver lasting benefits to our people,” he said.

These electrification projects being commissioned will significantly strengthen power distribution across the Gbaji–Seme and Owode–Apa corridor, enabling thousands of homes, shops, and businesses to benefit from improved and more stable electricity supply, while boarder communities such as Badagry must benefit from sustained investment in infrastructure that supports trade, productivity, and community wellbeing,” he said.

Meanwhile, Lagos Governor promise to collaborate with the Federal Government to speed up Gbaji Apa Owode road in Badagry West, and this was made known by deputy Governor

Dignitaries’ turnout at the commissioning was mind blowing as the electrification project really touched the nerve of the people of Badagry West who were largely grateful.
