According to Mr. Gbola Oba, the CEO of Universal Direct Academia Ltd (ULDA), the parent company of ULDA Media Ltd, which is the brain behind CCBNaija, the reality television show idea was conceived to encourage the youths’ interest in acquiring building and construction skills.

The aim, when the ULDA Training Institute was estableished in November 2017, Oba detailed, was to provide the youths  trainings in the basics of the construction industry; essentially, in brick layering, domestic plumbering, construction carpentry and still fixing, adding that it was not just going to start a training institute for training sake or for just producing youths for the job market, but to create an ecosystem that would not only empower people in skills and make them to be enterprising.

The reality TV show, he elaborated, was designed to allow eminent personalities in the Nigerian and African housing industry visit the celebrity contestants once a week, speak on important housing empowerment subjects, mentoring viewers on how as individuals but, importantly, as groups of cooperators and collaborators, they can own their own homes.

Also, every week of the 12-week, daily, 30-minute broadcast, lots of viewers will win corporate giveaways like return tickets to Dubai, building materials and cash prizes, for answering basic construction or celebrities-related questions and voting for celebrities of their choice.

With CCBNaija, Oba affirms, the innovative media project is set to deliver 2,500 units of social housing of 1-bedroom, 2-bedroom and 3-bedroom at N3m, N4m and N5m respectively to Nigerians over a period of three years, while aiming to create a private sector-driven and social-enterprise housing initiative.
