Kannywood actress to undergo investigation after posting ‘indecent’ photo on Twitter

The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has instructed Kaduna police to investigate Kannywood star, Rahama Sadau, whose Twitter post caused controversy on social media.

The Twitter post in question is an image in which Sadau poses for photographs in a backless dress with her hair uncovered.

Many Northerners criticised the actress for leaving parts of her body exposed in contravention of Islamic principles.

Sadau had later deleted the post and apologised to her followers, although that failed to stop Kannywood, the Northern film industry, from banning her.

And it appears there is more trouble to come for the light-skinned actress after one Mallam Lawal Gusau petitioned the IGP to investigate Sadau for her actions.

In reponse, Principal Staff Officer to the IGP, Idowu Owohunwa, sent a letter to Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Umar Muri, asking him to probe the matter and report his findings.

The letter is titled ‘Complaint of Causing and Acknowledging Derogatory and Blasphemous Comments Against Prophet Muhammed On Rahma Sadau, Kaduna, Kaduna State and Request for Urgent Intervention’.

It reads partly: “I am to convey the directive of the Inspector General of Police that you treat proactively with a view to ensuring that the development does not result in any act that could threaten public peace and security.

“The Inspector-General of Police further directs that you furnish him with updates accordingly.”
