The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has inaugurated newly elected executive members across its ward and local government structures, charging them to strengthen the party’s grassroots presence.

The inauguration ceremony, held on Friday in Ikeja, Lagos State, was presided over by the state APC chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, who urged the officials to approach their responsibilities with dedication and loyalty to the party’s principles.

Addressing the new executives, Ojelabi emphasised the need for unity among members, warning against actions that could create division within the party as it prepares for future political contests, particularly the 2027 general elections.

According to him, the swearing-in marks an important milestone in reinforcing the party’s internal structure and preparing it for upcoming electoral activities.

“We found you worthy to be elected to pilot the affairs of the party for the next four years. Your role is critical to the growth and consolidation of the party,” he said.

Ojelabi noted that the APC’s sustained dominance in Lagos politics has largely been built on a strong grassroots network. He therefore encouraged the newly inaugurated executives to preserve and strengthen that foundation in their respective areas.

“The responsibility before you is enormous. You must be diligent in the discharge of your duties and remain committed to the ideals of the party,” he added.

The chairman further stressed the importance of unity among party leaders and stakeholders, urging them to avoid conduct capable of undermining internal harmony.

He explained that the executives emerged through a democratic process and must therefore work collectively to deepen the party’s influence in their wards and local government areas.

Ojelabi also pointed out that the new officials were assuming office at a crucial time in the party’s history, adding that their leadership would play a significant role in consolidating the achievements recorded by the APC in the state over the years.

He advised them to collaborate closely with local government party leadership and intensify mobilisation efforts at the grassroots level.

“Work starts immediately. Let the leadership in your local government know you have been sworn in, and work together to strengthen the party’s structure,” he said.

The APC chairman assured the executives of the support of the party’s leadership as well as the state government, reiterating the party’s commitment to inclusive participation and grassroots development.

He maintained that effective leadership at the ward and local government levels remains essential to sustaining the APC’s political strength in Lagos State.
