The Lagos State Government has reaffirmed its zero tolerance for misconduct, warning public servants engaging in unethical practices to desist or face sanctions.
The Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab sounded the warning in a statement shared on X on Wednesday.
This comes after a Lagos resident took to the social media platform to complain about alleged sharp practices of a staff of Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency (LASAA), Olukayode John Adetifa.
The resident, who tweets from @Bhadmoz, alleged that the official collected N41,000 revenue on behalf of the state government using his personal account and issued receipt for N7,100.
The X user also shared a transaction receipt for the N41,000 bank transfer to the official.
Reacting, Wahab confirmed a probe has been launched into the official’s conduct.
He said, “My attention has been drawn to a post alleging improper transaction practices involving a staff member of an agency under our ministry.
“I can confirm that the individual in question has been identified and is indeed on the staff list of the agency.
“I have directed that the officer report to the Head Office tomorrow for immediate disciplinary proceedings.
“Let this be a clear warning to any public servant engaging in unethical practices: we have zero tolerance for misconduct.
“The Lagos State Government remains committed to transparency and accountability at all levels.
“We thank the vigilant citizen who brought this to our attention.
“Your voice matters in our collective pursuit of good governance.”
