Lagos Govt demolishes Ola of Lagos’ luxury car showroom

The Lagos State Government has demolished the car store of Waris Olayinka Akinwande, a renowned social media influencer and automobile dealer also known as Ola of Lagos.
The manufacturing facility, known as OOL Autos, was demolished on Saturday, October 11, 2025, according to several accounts.
Although the state government has yet to make a formal statement detailing the cause for the destruction, it is thought to be part of an ongoing enforcement operation against unlawful and hazardous constructions in Lagos.
Sources and online speculation suggest that the showroom was allegedly constructed beneath a high-tension power line, an area strictly prohibited for building due to safety and urban planning regulations.
The demolition aligns with the government’s continuous efforts to enforce physical planning laws, restore order, and enhance public safety. Similar exercises have recently been carried out in various parts of the state, including the Trade Fair Complex and sections of Lekki, where buildings without approvals or those obstructing drainages, road setbacks, and rights-of-way were removed.
The Lagos State Government has repeatedly emphasized that such actions are aimed at curbing flooding, protecting lives and property, and maintaining a safer and more sustainable urban environment.
