The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO) shut down activities at Canalily Estate, located along Meadow Hall Way in Ikate-Lekki, on Thursday after discovering the purposeful dumping of untreated wastewater onto a public roadway.

According to the government, the estate’s activities caused wastewater to overflow into the adjacent neighbourhood, causing a public nuisance, polluting the environment, and exposing inhabitants to major health risks.

The LSWMO emphasised that all residents and property managers must follow correct wastewater disposal procedures and maintain excellent hygiene standards in order to protect public health and environmental quality.

The agency warned that any form of environmental misconduct would attract strict penalties, including potential prosecution.

Residents were encouraged to report environmental infractions through the following official channels:
08022022397, 07025332163, or via the agency’s social media handles; @lswmomedia on Instagram and Twitter, and the Lagos State Wastewater Management Office page on Facebook.
