Lagos Lawmaker Foluke Osafile defects from Labour Party to ADC
Mrs Foluke Osafile, a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, representing Amuwo-Odofin Constituency I, has defected from the Labour Party (LP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Confirming the move on Saturday, the lawmaker said, “Yes, it is true. I have defected to the ADC.”
She explained that the decision was taken to better serve her constituents and improve their future.
Osafile pledged to work with ADC leaders to promote good governance, stating, “Together, we will strengthen our democratic institutions and ensure that the voices of ordinary Nigerians are heard and respected.”
She also reassured her constituents of her loyalty, adding, “Your trust remains my guiding principle.”
The lawmaker, who won her seat in 2023 on the LP platform, is expected to formally announce her defection during plenary in the coming days.
Her election victory, which was initially overturned by a tribunal, was later restored by the Court of Appeal, ending the legal contest.
