The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has confiscated banned, expired, and unregistered products valued at more than N1.5 billion at the cosmetics section of the Lagos Trade Fair market.
The significant raid, spearheaded by Dr Martins Iluyomade, Director of Investigation & Enforcement, bursted multiple warehouses filled with cosmetics, food items, and other products that lacked proper registration or date markings.

The agency in a statement issued on Monday confirmed that the NAFDAC officials evacuated over a trailer load of the illicit products and intercepted another trailer carrying cosmetics whose driver fled the scene, though the goods were successfully secured.
“This operation forms part of NAFDAC’s intensified nationwide crackdown on unsafe consumer goods,” the agency stated on X.
Emphasising its ongoing commitment, “This is one of the largest seizures in recent months, reinforcing NAFDAC’s commitment to protecting public health.”
The agency thereby urged the public to stay vigilant, avoid unregulated products, and promptly report any suspicious items to help safeguard consumer safety.
