 New Year Disaster: Oyo Fire Service averts fire outbreak as petrol tankers get accident in Ibadan

Oyo State Fire Services Agency was on Saturday, January 1st, rescued petroleum loaded tankers from catching fire at Iwo-Ojoo road and Tose areas, Moniya, Ibadan respectfully.

According to the Director of Operations, Engr. Ismail Adeleke, who spoke to our correspondent, the incidents, which occurred at two different areas in Ibadan, were reported to the agency at exactly 07: 32hrs and 8:25hrs respectfully.

He explained that though no life was lost in the two accidents, a woman was brutally injured, which occurred at Tosr, Moniya got has been taken to the hospital for treatment.

He stated that the accident was due to break failure by the tanker which collided with a Nissan Primers with six passengers.

He said: “When the two incidents were reported this morning, the Fire Service contingents were immediately deplored to the areas and strategies were deployed to prevent any unforseen circumstance.

“No live was lost to the accidents but the one at Tose Moniya was due to break failure by the trailer tanker and smashed a Nissan Premira in which one of the six passengers (a woman) got injured and taken to hospital.

Consequent upon the above, the motorists, members of the public and people living within the areas are advised to continue with their New Year celebration legitimately.”

He, however, caution the public to desist from collecting the spilled petroleum spirit or manoeuvre through the place to avoid fire outbreak, while urging them to enjoy the season with the high level of fire consciousness.
