Police arrest 6 suspected armed robbers in Ogun after Lagos operation
The Zone 2 Police Command in Onikan, Lagos, captured six suspected armed robbers in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, following a coordinated operation immediately after the suspects reportedly attacked in Lagos.
Officers of the Dragon Team made the arrests on the orders of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG, Zone 2 Command, Adegoke Fayoade.
CSP Umma Ayuba, the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the development by identifying the accused as Shola, Pelumi, Gbenga, Zacchaeus, Tunde, and Saheed.
She said the arrests were made possible through credible intelligence and swift operational response.
“The arrests followed a series of complaints received by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 2 Command, prompting the deployment of operatives from the Dragon Team to investigate, track, and apprehend the perpetrators,” Ayuba explained.
According to her, the breakthrough came on October 5, 2025, at about 10:00 p.m., when the tactical team tracked the suspects to their hideout in the Ijebu Ode area of Ogun State, shortly after a robbery operation.
“The raid led to the arrest of the six suspects and the recovery of two locally made pistols, thirty live cartridges, and a wine-coloured Toyota Camry with registration number KNN 383 BU,” she added.
CSP Ayuba also noted that the AIG praised residents for their continued cooperation with security agencies, assuring that the police remain fully committed to ensuring peace and security across Lagos and Ogun States under Zone 2 Command.
She quoted the AIG as urging members of the public to remain vigilant and continue to provide timely and credible information to aid the police in their efforts to combat crime and protect lives and property.
