Portugal coach Roberto Martinez shares injury update on Ronaldo ahead of 2026 World Cup
Portugal coach Roberto Martinez has provided the latest injury update on captain Cristiano Ronaldo.
Remember that Martinez did not include Ronaldo in Portugal’s team that faces the United States and Mexico in March.
Ronaldo received an injury during Al-Nassr’s 3-1 Saudi Pro League victory over Al-Fayha in February.
However, speaking with the media after Portugal defeated the USA on Tuesday, Martinez said the former Real Madrid forward is recovering and will be fit to play in the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the summer.
According to him, Ronaldo’s injury is similar to those of Ruben Dias and Nelson Semedo.
When asked if the Al-Nassr captain will be called up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup squad, Martinez replied (as per TheNassrZone): “Cristiano’s injury is similar to those of (Ruben) Dias and (Nelson) Semedo.
“He is recovering well, and this is not an issue that should raise doubts about his participation in the World Cup.
“But he is like any other player, and now we have 60 days to monitor everyone’s condition. His injury is not something that threatens his presence in the World Cup.”
