Convener of the #RevolutionNow movement, Yele Sowore, led others as they protested outside the US Embassy on Thursday over the poor socio-economic condition in the country.
The protesters brandished banners and placards that read “Buhari has failed,’ ‘Resign Now’, ‘Failed leadership has made Nigeria the capital of the world,’ ‘#RevolutionNow’, and so on.
They called for President Muhammadu Buhari to resign, accusing him of failing to solve problems like corruption, poverty, and insecurity bedeviling the country.
Notable persons in the protest include prominent activists Aisha Yesufu, Deji Ayanju, Henry Shield, Adebayo Raphael and Ariyo Dare-Atoye.
In her address, Yesufu said Nigerians need to make the country work in order to eliminate the present situation which was becoming unbearable.
Civil rights campaigner, Adeyanju, echoed similar sentiments, saying that Nigerians were unhappy with the present economic and security conditions in the country.
Adebayo Raphael also lent his voice to the protest, saying that the Buhari-led administration had failed Nigerians.
“Under Buhari, our economy is in shambles; under him, hardship has been redefined,” he added.
