2027: INEC Releases Final List of Presidential Candidates, Running Mates
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has published the final list of presidential candidates and their running mates for the 2027 general election.
The list contains 18 presidential candidates sponsored by different political parties, including President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
Other candidates include Oyo State Governor Oluseyi Makinde of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), former Cross River State Governor Donald Duke of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Omoyele Sowore of the African Action Congress (AAC) and Adewole Adebayo of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
The list also includes Sandy Ojang Onor of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sunday Chibuzo Okereke of the Labour Party (LP), Rufai Adekunle Omo-Aje of the Action Alliance (AA), Abbas-Bin Aliyu of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) and Yusuf Kabiru of the Action Peoples Party (APP).
Others are Sunday Adenuga of the Boot Party (BP), Moses Olusoji Adebisi of the Democratic Labour Alliance (DLA), Peter Agada of the Young Progressive Party (YPP) and Daniel Daberechukwu Nwanyanwu of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).
Two women are listed as presidential candidates: Ada Elizabeth Frederick Okwori of the National Democratic Party (NDP) and Nkem Esther Okereke of the National Rescue Movement (NRM).
The commission’s list also names the vice-presidential candidates running alongside the presidential nominees.
Among the running mates are Kashim Shettima of the APC, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi of the ADC, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of the NDC and Mohammed Musa of the NDC ticket as listed by the commission.
Four women are listed as vice-presidential candidates: Peace Egobia of the APP, Nafisat Usaku of the DLA, Hajja Bintu Konto of the LP and Patience Ndidi Key of the YPP.
According to the published list, the presidential candidates are between 35 and 79 years old, while the vice-presidential candidates are aged between 35 and 80.
The list identifies Moses Olusoji Adebisi of the DLA as the youngest presidential candidate at 35, while Atiku Abubakar, 79, is the oldest.
INEC’s publication follows the completion of political party primaries conducted between April 23 and May 30, 2026.
The presidential and National Assembly elections are scheduled for January 16, 2027, while governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections will hold on February 6, 2027.
