2027: Lagos Police assure residents of adequate security for elections
The Lagos State Police Command has assured residents that it is fully prepared to provide security before, during and after the 2027 general elections.
The command gave the assurance while outlining measures being put in place to maintain law and order and prevent violence during the electoral process.
The police said they would work with relevant stakeholders, including the Independent National Electoral Commission and other security agencies, to ensure a peaceful election.
The command also warned politicians, supporters and other stakeholders against acts capable of disrupting the electoral process.
It said the police would not allow political thuggery, violence, intimidation or other forms of criminality to threaten the safety of residents.
The command urged political parties and their supporters to conduct their campaigns within the provisions of the law and avoid actions that could lead to clashes.
The police further called on Lagos residents to cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information on suspicious activities and potential threats.
The assurance comes as political parties and aspirants intensify preparations for the 2027 elections, with campaigns and other political activities expected to increase ahead of the polls.
