The Kaduna Police on Thursday paraded about 23 suspects accused of committing crimes including stealing, banditry and kidnapping.

The police said it apprehended the suspects during recent raids in the state.

One of the suspects, a Sani Haruna, had been arrested by the police for his involvement in an attack on the Kwakwara village.

The 20-year old confessed that he joined seven others, now on the run, to attack the community.

There, they killed a 60-year old man, Mallam Murnai and injured his son, Gambo Saidu, and stole 10 goats, eight cows and 50 sheep from them.

Also paraded was Sanusi Abubakar of Unguwar Gajere village, accused of plotting with five others to abduct one Haruna Garba, whose family paid a N3m ransom.

Spokesman for the Kaduna Police Command, SP Gambo Isah added: “The suspect (Abubakar) confessed that in the process of kidnapping the said Alhaji Haruna, one of the suspects who is at large, Ibrahim Kawo, shot and killed one Ibrahim Lado.”

SP Gambo disclosed that the police would prosecute the suspects after completing investigations into the crimes they committed.
