 288 Evacuees Arrive Nigeria From UAE, Bring Total To 2,641

The Nigerians In Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) announced today the return of about 288 Nigerians who had been stranded in the United Arab Emirates as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Commission, which had made the announcement on Twitter, said that the stranded Nigerians had arrived via an Air Peace flight in the Nmadi Azikiwe International Airport.

We reported earlier that the Federal Government was planning to evacuate some Nigerian nationals stranded in the United States. As at the time of writing, the number of Nigerians evacuated since the start of the pandemic stands at 2,641.

The evacuees, who tested negative for Coronavirus prior to departing, are expected to self-isolate for 14 days in line with the guidelines of the National Center for Disease Control. They will also take another Coronavirus test before they can rejoin society.
