30 ships carrying fuel, food, other goods expected at Lagos ports
No fewer than 30 ships carrying petroleum products, food items and other cargo are expected to arrive at ports in Lagos between September 15 and 28, the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has said.
The authority disclosed this in its Daily Shipping Position released on Tuesday.
According to the NPA, the vessels are expected at the Apapa, Lekki Deep Sea and Tin Can Island ports.
It said 10 of the incoming ships would carry containers loaded with various goods, while five others would bring aviation fuel.
The remaining 15 vessels are expected to carry crude oil, diesel, general cargo, bulk gypsum, fresh fish and bulk wheat.
The NPA also said 12 ships and tanker vessels had already arrived at the three ports and were waiting to berth.
The vessels awaiting berthing are expected to discharge bulk urea, petrol, diesel, crude oil and bulk salt.
Meanwhile, 21 ships were said to be currently discharging various cargoes at the ports, including containers, fresh fish, general cargo, bulk pallets, bulk urea, bulk sugar, bulk salt, aviation fuel and petrol.
The expected arrivals come amid continued activity at Lagos ports, which handle a significant volume of the country’s maritime trade.
