Staff were absent during Lekki Tollgate shooting — LCC MD

By Emmanuel Awosika
The Managing Director, Lekki Concession Company, Mr. Abayomi Omomuwa, has said he and other members of staff were absent during the alleged shooting of protesters at the Lekki Tollgate.
The LCC handles operations of the Lekki Tollgate where security operatives allegedly opened fire on peaceful #EndSARS protesters on October 20, 2020.
The LCC boss stated this while fielding questions from members of the Judicial Panel of Inquiry set up to investigate the Lekki Tollgate shooting and complaints brought against operatives of the defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
He said the LCC staff had vacated the Tollgate plaza after the Lagos State Government declared a 4pm curfew.
Per reports, men of the armed forces had started shooting at unarmed protesters shortly before dusk around 7pm that day.
Omomuwa’s revelation comes as the Lagos State Government continues efforts to unravel the incidents surrounding the attack on the #EndSARS protesters.
