The Ogun State Police Command has on Monday detained a woman, Iswat Taofeek, who brutalised a teenaged boy living with her using a hot knife.
Taofeek said she suspected the boy of stealing money totaling N5000 which she kept in the house.
She confessed to burning the victim’s body with a red-hot knife to make him confess about his role in the issue of missing money.
The suspect also told police investigators that the boy is her brother-in-law’s son and has been in her care for a while.
Police spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed that the suspect was apprehended on Monday morning following a report from a concerned neighbour.
According to him, the neighbour had brought the boy to the Adatan Police Station before filing a complaint against Taofeek.
He revealed that the boy lost consciousness while the report was being filed, adding that sympathisers rushed him to a near-by hospital.
Of the suspect, Oyeyemi said plans were underway to transfer her to the Anti-human Trafficking and Child Labour unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department(SCIID) for investigation and prosecution.
