Failure to wear face mask can lead to imprisonment- LASG

The Lagos State Government on Tuesday, has warned residents against failure to wear face mask in public, which could land them in prison.
The state government made this known on its official Twitter handle.
The tweet read, “Did you know? Failure to wear a face mask in public or breach of any COVID-19 regulations, you can be prosecuted under the Lagos State Infectious Diseases (Prevention) Regulations or Criminal Laws of Lagos State and upon conviction liable to imprisonment up to one year.”
The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, had last week expressed concern over the recent spike in the number of Covid-19 cases in the state and urged Lagosians to keep observing the prescribed protocols issued by the state govt to curb the spread of the virus.
According to him, the state cannot afford another lockdown. He enjoined residents to stay strong and persevere in observing the prescribed protocols
He had urged Lagosians to demonstrate awareness about the existence of Covid-19 and live right to deliberately reduce and eliminate its spread.
