 June 12: We’ll Defend Lagos Against ‘Commercial Protesters’ – Lagos Indigenes

Eko Akete Progressive Movement has cautioned the publisher of Saharareporters, Omoyele Sowore and other groups planning to organize protest for June 12 in Lagos to shift the idea for public safety amidst ravaging insecurity in the country.

Eko Akete Progressive Movement, a group of Lagos indigenes worldwide in a statement issued on Monday by its chairman, Abass Dosumu said Lagos cannot afford another protest after hoodlums hijack #EndSARS protest and destroyed properties worth billion of naira in 2020.

Dosumu noted that the indigenes of Lagos will not allow any group or individual to destabilize the state and disturb public peace in the name protest.

The Statement read:

”We the indigenes of Lagos state will not allow the people planning protest on June 12 to bury the thought in the interest of public safety and peace amidst the insecurity in Nigeria. Organizing protest will be counter productive, especially after Lagos witnessed destruction of government and private properties during Endsars protest.

”We understand the protest is constitutional guaranteed right of the citizens but must be use responsibly and reasonable due to tension in the country. As group of patriot citizens and indigenes of Lagos advise Sowore and others to use alternative mean to ventilate their concerns about the situation in the country.

”We therefore state categorically that we will mobilize our people to defend and protect our heritage, properties and lives of lawabiding Nigerians living in the Centre of Excellence.
