The Lagos State Task Force has arrested numerous residents for unlawful rubbish disposal in the Akesan area of Alimosho Local Government Area.

The arrests were made in response to allegations from the Oba of Akesan and the Lagos Waste Management Authority, or LAWMA, triggering fast enforcement action by state officials.

This was disclosed in a statement published on Wednesday via X by Tokunbo Wahab, the Lagos State Commissioner for the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources.

According to Wahab, “Following reports from the Oba of Akesan and LAWMA, enforcement officers this morning arrested residents caught dumping waste illegally in Akesan, Alimosho LGA. The offenders were taken to the Task Force Office in Oshodi for prosecution.”

The commissioner reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to maintaining a cleaner and healthier environment, warning that anyone caught violating sanitation laws would face strict legal consequences.
