Passengers stranded for over six hours as Enugu Air suffers series of delay in Lagos

Passengers booked on an Enugu Air service operated by XEJet were stranded at Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos for more than six hours on Saturday, following multiple delays and logistical issues.

Originally scheduled to depart at 9:30 a.m., the flight was first postponed to 1:00 p.m., leaving many travelers waiting in the terminal well into the afternoon.

Boarding finally began around 1:30 p.m., but passengers claim they stood outside the aircraft for about 30 minutes without any clear explanation or communication from the airline.

According to a passenger, information was sparse throughout the ordeal.

“We got to the aircraft, and they just kept us standing there. Nobody told us what was happening,” one stranded passenger said.

The delay was later linked to a requirement from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, for the crew to wait while certain documentation was processed.

Passengers were told that a waste-disposal hose had become stuck, further preventing takeoff.

By approximately 3:00 p.m., an airline representative identified as N.P. Ogeke informed passengers that the issue had been resolved, and the aircraft eventually departed at around 4:00 p.m.

The incident follows a prior disruption earlier in the week: XEJet reportedly cancelled a 9:00 a.m. flight on Wednesday, November 19, leaving other passengers stranded.
