Lagos Taskforce arrests 6 hoodlums over attacks on motorists
Lagos State Environmental Taskforce has stepped up its crackdown on street criminals, arresting six suspected hoodlums accused of attacking motorists across the state.
In a statement issued by the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, the enforcement exercise began at about 9:30 a.m. on Friday and was aimed at dismantling criminal groups that prey on motorists whose vehicles develop faults along major highways.
The operation covered Maryland and the entire Ikorodu Road corridor, where the suspects were intercepted and taken into custody for further investigation and prosecution.
Wahab said all those arrested would be charged to court without delay, stressing that the state government remains resolute in its determination to protect lives and property.
He reiterated the government’s Zero Tolerance Lagos stance on street violence and warned that criminal elements operating on Lagos roads would continue to face sustained enforcement actions.
Residents, motorists, and commuters were also advised to stay alert and promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies to aid ongoing efforts to keep the state safe.
