Arewa Leader begs Lagos Gov Sanwo-Olu over members impounded motorcycles
The Chairman Board of Trustee of Arewa Community Forum of All-Progressives Congress (APC) in Ajeromi Ifelodun Alhaji Ibrahim Auna Tanko, has appealed to the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for the release of its members commercial motorcycles impounded by the Lagos State Joint Task Force.
Alhaji Tanko who is also the Apex Leader Arewa Community APC Lagos West II said that the seizure of the motorcycles on 27th of February 2026 has really hampered the mainstay of affected member’s economy.
In a statement signed by Tanko, he cited the development as quite unfortunate as the area in question is not captured in the area listed as restricted for motorcycle operation, adding that the community has a record of sustained commitment to ensuring APC’s victory always at polls and especially ahead of the 2027 general elections as well as to the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The statement read in parts, “On behalf of the Arewa Community Forum, Lagos Branch, I present a passionate appeal regarding the release of Commercial motorcycles, belonging to our community members that were recently impounded by the Lagos State Joint Task Force on the 27th of February 2026 during their enforcement operations in Ajeromi Ifelodun Local Government Area, Lagos State.
“We earnestly request your good office to consider this appeal with compassion and understanding, as it largely concerns our Arewa community members who rely on commercial motorcycle riding, commonly referred to as Okada riders, engaging in this as their primary means of livelihood.
“The motorcycles that have been seized are not merely vehicles; they symbolize the lifeblood of many affected families whose entire survival and daily sustenance depend on this form of transportation to earn a living.”
Tanko reiterated that the attendant financial despair the development translate to for members is mind blowing.
“The abrupt seizure of these motorcycles has and will potentially inflict severe hardships and suffering on the community members, depriving them of their only source of income and pushing them into financial despair.
“Moreover, it is important to highlight that our members have consistently contributed to the voting process in Lagos State, particularly supporting our dear party APC in all cycle of elections and closely adherent to the President Tinubu Renew Hope Agenda.
“This appeal is very necessary at this point in time especially as we are significantly approaching the elections scheduled for 2027.”
