Lagos neighborhood security agency arrests suspected burglar, recovers gun

Operatives of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency, LSNSA, have apprehended a suspected burglar and recovered a locally manufactured firearm during an early morning operation in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State.

The arrest, carried out by officers attached to the Imota Command, followed reports from residents of unusual and suspicious activity around the Araromi neighborhood.

The agency confirmed the development in a statement released on its social media platforms on Saturday.

According to the statement, the operation took place in the early hours of Friday, March 13, 2026, when officers responded promptly to the complaints.

The suspect, identified as 25-year-old Monday Enoch, was taken into custody at approximately 4:22 a.m.

“Acting on credible information, officers deployed to the Araromi area apprehended a 25-year-old male, Monday Enoch, around 4:22 a.m. on Friday, March 13,” the statement read.

During questioning, the suspect reportedly admitted to possessing two firearms and led operatives to an unfinished building in the Mosafejo area of Agbowa, where a locally made long gun was recovered.

“He later directed the operatives to an uncompleted building in Agbowa, where a locally fabricated firearm was recovered,” the statement added.

Reacting to the arrest, the agency’s General Manager, Prince Dr Ifalade Oyekan, reiterated LSNSA’s commitment to deepening collaboration with other security agencies at the federal, state, and local levels to ensure public safety.

The suspect and the recovered weapon have been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force at the Imota Division for further investigation and potential prosecution.

Efforts are ongoing to recover the second firearm, reportedly stolen in Ogun State.
