2027: Atiku says Aso Rock will be vacant despite Oba of Lagos’ stance
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has rejected the claim by the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, that there will be no vacancy in Aso Rock after the 2027 presidential election.
Akiolu had backed President Bola Tinubu for a second term, declaring that there would be no vacancy in the Presidential Villa for the next four or five years.
Reacting to the monarch’s position, Atiku said there would be a vacancy in Aso Rock after the 2027 election.
The former vice president is the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, for the 2027 election.
The development comes as political parties and major contenders intensify preparations for the presidential contest.
