EPL: Man Utd held to 1-1 draw by Fulham

Manchester United were held to a 1-1 draw by Fulham in the Premier League on Sunday, extending their difficult run of results under manager Michael Carrick.

United fell behind in the second half after Lisandro Martinez turned the ball into his own net following a save by goalkeeper Senne Lammens from Calvin Bassey’s effort.

Fulham created several opportunities during the match, with Lammens making important saves to keep United in the game.

United struggled to create clear-cut chances as Fulham maintained pressure and threatened to increase their lead.

However, Matheus Cunha rescued a point for United in the 89th minute when his long-range effort took a deflection off David Affengruber and found the net.

The result means United have won just one of their last five Premier League matches.

The draw also followed successive defeats to Manchester City in the league and Brighton in the Carabao Cup, increasing scrutiny around Carrick and his team.

United had taken a 2-0 lead against Brighton before eventually losing 3-2 in midweek, while they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Manchester City in the previous Premier League fixture.

Carrick has previously accepted responsibility for the team’s results and said the club needed to respond quickly to the recent setbacks.

The draw at Craven Cottage leaves United with further work to do as they seek to improve their league form.
