LASTMA warns against skating on Lagos highways
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority has warned children, teenagers and young adults against using rolling skate shoes on major roads and highways across the state.
LASTMA said the practice could expose users to serious traffic-related risks, particularly on busy roads with fast-moving vehicles.
The agency urged parents and guardians to discourage children from using rolling skate shoes on highways and other areas with heavy vehicular movement.
It advised users to restrict skating activities to designated recreational areas where there is less risk of interaction with moving vehicles.
The warning followed concerns over the increasing use of rolling skate shoes by young people on public roads.
LASTMA said road users should prioritise safety and avoid activities that could endanger themselves or other motorists.
The agency also urged motorists to remain alert and exercise caution when driving in areas where children and young people may be skating.
LASTMA reiterated that compliance with traffic safety rules was necessary to reduce the risk of accidents and protect vulnerable road users.
