Lagos 2027: APC Calls Rhodes-Vivour, Gbadamosi Ticket a ‘Political Experiment’
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has criticised the proposed 2027 governorship ticket of Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour and Babatunde Gbadamosi under the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Rhodes-Vivour is expected to contest the Lagos governorship election as the ADC candidate, with Gbadamosi serving as his running mate.
The APC described the pairing as an “experiment”, questioning the political prospects of the opposition ticket ahead of the 2027 election.
Gbadamosi recently explained his decision to accept the deputy governorship slot despite being older and having previously contested the Lagos governorship election.
He said he supported Rhodes-Vivour because of his age and what he described as the younger politician’s skills and suitability for Lagos.
Gbadamosi also cited historical examples of younger leaders playing prominent roles in Nigeria’s political development, including former Lagos governor Mobolaji Johnson, who became the state’s first military governor at the age of 31.
He said the partnership was aimed at giving younger people an opportunity to participate more directly in governance.
