Mbappe set to miss at least two weeks with knee injury

Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe is expected to be sidelined for at least two weeks after sustaining a knee injury while playing for France.

Mbappe suffered the injury during France’s 1-0 Nations League victory over Türkiye on Friday.

The forward scored the only goal of the match before being forced off after appearing to hurt his knee while taking a shot.

France coach Zinedine Zidane said after the match that the injury did not look encouraging and that Mbappe would not be risked during the remaining Nations League fixtures.

“It’s not great. Unfortunately, I think he’s going to have to go home. We don’t want to take any risks,” Zidane said.

Mbappe is expected to return to Real Madrid for further assessment, with reports indicating that he could be out for two weeks or longer depending on the severity of the injury.

The injury comes after Mbappe recently missed a France training session because of flu-like symptoms before returning to the squad.

His absence could affect Real Madrid’s plans for upcoming domestic and European fixtures, depending on his recovery time.
