Lagos: Motorists face prosecution over reckless driving on coastal road
Motorists driving recklessly or exceeding the speed limit on the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road may face prosecution as authorities intensify enforcement of traffic regulations on the route.
The warning was issued following concerns over speeding and other dangerous driving practices on the newly opened coastal highway in Lagos.
Authorities said motorists must comply with the prescribed speed limits and other traffic regulations while using the road.
They also warned drivers against reckless overtaking, dangerous manoeuvres and other actions that could endanger other road users.
Motorists found violating the rules could be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with existing traffic laws.
The authorities urged motorists to exercise caution and drive within the approved speed limits to prevent accidents and protect other road users.
The development comes amid increased use of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road, with traffic officials stepping up monitoring to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
