Atiku aide tackles Fani-Kayode over comment on Tinubu
An aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has criticised former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode over his remarks concerning President Bola Tinubu.
The aide said Tinubu, having been elected president, should be regarded as a public servant accountable to Nigerians rather than as an emperor beyond criticism.
He was reacting to Fani-Kayode’s comments defending the President and warning those attacking Tinubu over his administration.
The Atiku aide argued that political office holders should be open to scrutiny and criticism, particularly on issues affecting the welfare of citizens.
He said Nigerians had the constitutional right to question government policies and demand accountability from elected officials.
According to him, disagreement with Tinubu or criticism of his administration should not be interpreted as hatred for the President or the country.
He also urged political leaders and their supporters to focus on issues and engage in constructive debate ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The exchange comes amid growing political disagreements among supporters of the ruling All Progressives Congress and opposition figures over Tinubu’s administration and his potential bid for a second term.
