Obi Faults Tinubu’s Economic Policies, Says Growth Must Improve Nigerians’ Living Standards
The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has criticised the Federal Government’s economic performance, arguing that economic growth means little if Nigerians continue to experience worsening living conditions.
Obi said improvements in economic indicators, including revenue generation and economic growth, should not be treated as proof that the welfare of ordinary citizens has improved.
The former Anambra State governor made the remarks while reacting to a World Bank report on Nigeria’s economic performance, according to reports.
He argued that the real measure of economic progress should include poverty reduction, job creation, improved living standards and reduced inequality.
